This period was followed by first publications in the <em>Hafen Rundschau<\/em> and commissions for architectural photographs.<br \/>\nAcquires a second camera: Rolleiflex<\/p>\n<p><strong>1962<br \/>\n<\/strong>In March: Leonore Mau visits Hubert Fichte and the painter Serge Fiorio in Montjustin.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1963<br \/>\n<\/strong>Leonore Mau and Hubert Fichte move into a shared flat in D\u00fcrerstrasse 9 in Hamburg, where she continues to live until the end of her life.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1964\/65<br \/>\n<\/strong>Several trips through Europe follow. She photographes in Finland and Denmark, among other places.<br \/>\nShe takes architectural photographs for the magazine <em>Architektur und Wohnform<\/em> (including the home of the interior &#8211; and furniture designer Eero Aarnio).<br \/>\nLeonore Mau begins during this time to take portraits of well-known personalities from the visual arts and literature, e.g. the writers Elfriede Gerstl, Christa Reinig and Ingeborg Bachmann.<br \/>\nThe three-month stay (1964) in the Portuguese fishing village of Sesimbra was the first long stay abroad with Hubert Fichte. Here she shot the photo film <a href=\"https:\/\/leonore-mau.de\/en\/zum-werk\/fotofilme\/der-fischmarkt-und-die-fische\/\"><em>Der Fischmarkt und die Fische<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1966<\/strong><br \/>\nFurther trips to the European continent follow, e.g. to Greece.<br \/>\nShots are taken of the port of Hamburg for the photo film <a href=\"https:\/\/leonore-mau.de\/en\/zum-werk\/fotofilme\/der-tag-eines-unstaendigen-hafenarbeiters\/\"><em>Der Tag eines unst\u00e4ndigen Hafenarbeiters<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1967\/1968<\/strong><br \/>\nShoots are taken in Rome for the photo film <a href=\"https:\/\/leonore-mau.de\/en\/zum-werk\/fotofilme\/die-spanische-treppe\/\"><em>Die Spanische Treppe<\/em><\/a> and portraits of scholarship holders at the Villa Massimo, where Hubert Fichte stays for several months, including the poet Peter R\u00fchmkorf and the painter Karl Horst H\u00f6dicke.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1969<br \/>\n<\/strong>Together with Hubert Fichte, Leonore Mau travels to Brazil and Egypt for several months.<br \/>\nShe takes photographs of the favelas and different architectures, including the Bras\u00edlia Cathedral (Catedral Metropolitana Nossa Senhora Aparecida) by the architect Oscar Niemeyer.<br \/>\nIn Egypt, she documented the damaged Egyptian Museum in Cairo. Published in <em>DER SPIEGEL<\/em> (22nd of December 1969, no. 52) and <em>DIE ZEIT<\/em> (15th of May 1970, no. 20). Photographs of children in Egypt are published in <a href=\"https:\/\/leonore-mau.de\/en\/zum-werk\/fotobaende\/die-kinder-herodots\/\"><em>Die Kinder Herodots<\/em><\/a>. Publications of her photographs from Brazil follow in the \u201cStern\u201d (<em>Urlauber, kommst du nach Rio&#8230;<\/em>, 30th of March 1969).<\/p>\n<p><strong>1970<\/strong><br \/>\nShoots are taken in Agadir (Morocco) for the photo film <em><a href=\"https:\/\/leonore-mau.de\/en\/zum-werk\/fotofilme\/2-x-45-bilder-agadir\/\">Zwei Mal 45 Bilder \/ S\u00e4tze aus Agadir<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1971<\/strong><br \/>\nLeonore Mau and Hubert Fichte travel to Salvador da Bahia (<a href=\"https:\/\/leonore-mau.de\/en\/zum-werk\/rituale\/brasilien\/\">Brazil<\/a>) and Santiago de Chile (<a href=\"https:\/\/leonore-mau.de\/en\/zum-werk\/projekte-und-themen\/graffitis-und-wandbilder\/santiago-de-chile\/\">Chile<\/a>). Here she takes pictures for the picture book <a href=\"https:\/\/leonore-mau.de\/en\/zum-werk\/fotobaende\/xango\/\"><em>Xango<\/em><\/a>, pictures of Candombl\u00e9 rituals as well as pictures of the Chilean President Salvador Allende.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1972 &#8211; 74<\/strong><br \/>\nLeonore Mau and Hubert Fichte travel to <a href=\"https:\/\/leonore-mau.de\/en\/zum-werk\/rituale\/karibik\/\">Haiti, Martinique, Grenada, Trinidad and the Dominican Republic<\/a> as well as for the first time to Dakar (<a href=\"https:\/\/leonore-mau.de\/en\/zum-werk\/rituale\/westafrika\/\">Senegal<\/a>) to visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/leonore-mau.de\/en\/zum-werk\/projekte-und-themen\/psychiatrische-doerfer\/\">psychiatric villages<\/a> there.<br \/>\nPhotographs are taken for the picture books <a href=\"https:\/\/leonore-mau.de\/en\/zum-werk\/fotobaende\/xango\/\"><em>Xango<\/em><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/leonore-mau.de\/en\/zum-werk\/fotobaende\/psyche\/\"><em>Psyche<\/em><\/a>.<br \/>\nThe Brazil photographs are published in <em>DER SPIEGEL <\/em><em>(Ein Geschw\u00fcr bedeckt das Land.<\/em> <em>Furcht und Elend der brasilianischen Republik <\/em>(1. &amp; 2. Teil), 24th &amp; 31th of January 1972).<br \/>\nHer Caribbean photographs are published in <em>Stern <\/em><em>(Wudu &#8211; Rendezvous mit den Gesitern<\/em>, 31th of January 1974).<\/p>\n<p><strong>1975<br \/>\n<\/strong>Leonore Mau and Hubert Fichte travel to <a href=\"https:\/\/leonore-mau.de\/en\/zum-werk\/rituale\/westafrika\/\">Benin<\/a>, Mexico and New York City (<a href=\"https:\/\/leonore-mau.de\/en\/zum-werk\/rituale\/usa\/\">USA<\/a>). At the bank holidays in Mexico City, photographs are taken of Willy Brand, among others.<br \/>\nIn <a href=\"https:\/\/leonore-mau.de\/en\/zum-werk\/rituale\/westafrika\/\">Benin<\/a>, Leonore Mau takes one of her most famous photographs: \u201cAfrikanischer Junge mit Blister-Maske\u201d. (African Boy with Blister Mask.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>1976<\/strong><br \/>\nDuring another stay in <a href=\"https:\/\/leonore-mau.de\/en\/zum-werk\/rituale\/westafrika\/\">Senegal<\/a>, she takes photographs of the psychiatric village &#8220;Village \u00c9mile Badiane&#8221; of Kenia in Ziguinchor in Casamance, which are published in the picture book <em><a href=\"https:\/\/leonore-mau.de\/en\/zum-werk\/fotobaende\/psyche\/\">Psyche<\/a><\/em>, as well as photographs of the artist <a href=\"https:\/\/leonore-mau.de\/en\/zum-werk\/projekte-und-themen\/graffitis-und-wandbilder\/dakar-papisto-boy\/\">Papisto Boy<\/a> and his murals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1977 &#8211; 1980<br \/>\n<\/strong>Leonore Mau and Hubert Fichte travel to El Tigre, Caracas (<a href=\"https:\/\/leonore-mau.de\/en\/zum-werk\/rituale\/venezuela\/\">Venezuela<\/a>), <a href=\"https:\/\/leonore-mau.de\/en\/zum-werk\/rituale\/karibik\/\">Grenada<\/a> and Togo as well as to Miami and New York in the USA. She takes photographs of Santer\u00eda rituals and of rituals of the Spiritual Baptists as well as pictures which are later published in the picture book <a href=\"https:\/\/leonore-mau.de\/en\/zum-werk\/fotobaende\/petersilie\/\"><em>Petersilie<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1981\/82<br \/>\n<\/strong>From May Hubert Fichte and Leonore Mau travel to S\u00e3o Lu\u00eds do Maranh\u00e3o (<a href=\"https:\/\/leonore-mau.de\/en\/zum-werk\/rituale\/brasilien\/\">Brazil<\/a>) for a one-year stay. Here she takes photographs of the priestesses of the Casa das Minas and the Candombl\u00e9 rituals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1985<\/strong><br \/>\nLeonore Mau and Hubert Fichte travel again to Fann in Dakar (Senegal) to visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/leonore-mau.de\/en\/zum-werk\/projekte-und-themen\/psychiatrische-doerfer\/\">psychiatric village<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1986<\/strong><br \/>\nLeonore Mau&#8217;s life and work partner Hubert Fichte dies on the 8th of March in Hamburg.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1987 &#8211; 1999<\/strong><br \/>\nLeonore Mau travels alone to India and several times to Portugal. Here she creates her mourning pictures after Fichte&#8217;s death.<br \/>\nDuring these years, she also produces her photographs for the picture book <a href=\"https:\/\/leonore-mau.de\/en\/ensemble\/\"><em>Ensemble<\/em><\/a> of the &#8220;Tanztheater Pina Bausch&#8221; in Wuppertal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Around 2004<\/strong><br \/>\nIn Hamburg, Leonore Mau dedicates herself to photographs of still lifes and objects trouv\u00e9s, including masks and sculptures, which she and Hubert Fichte had collected on their travels.
